Reseña del libro "Just Me and Thinking About You: Social Cognition; Visualized (en Inglés)"
Does your son have a social deficit? Mine does And being a Speech Therapist specializing in social deficits, I knew exactly where to start. I needed a child friendly book that conveys what a social interaction is. Problem was, it didn't exist. Believe me, I looked high and low. Being the good parent that I am, I decided to create a Kickstarter campaign to fund this project. It was over funded. Seems like I was not the only one who believed in this book. When I finally got the book, I pounced on it like a kid on a lollipop. I ripped it out of the packaging and went straight to my son. Lived happily ever after? Hardly, but boy was it a game changer It got the social juices flowing in both of us. Now all I have to do is say, 'are you now being just-me?' and he knows exactly what I'm talking about. Why game changing? Because allowed me to do the following: -Take the negativity out of teaching social skills-Have child friendly vocabulary to use when teaching social skills-Give my son the full picture of social interactions.-Stop asking to do specific skills, and rather have him understand why he needs interact appropriately. This book contains two short stories. The first is about child named Just-Me. He lived all alone and could do whatever he wanted! But, he also didn't have anyone to help him out. It was no fun being 'Just-Me.'The second story is about a child named Thinking-About-You. He lived with lots of other people and had to think about them. But, he was able to use social interactions to get whatever he needed. This book is especially useful when following the Social Thinking(c) method by Michelle Garcia Winner.
