Reseña del libro "Battle for Young Hearts: The Servant's Heart (en Inglés)"

This is the second book in the "Listen My Sons" series where making the heart safe is now addressed. It is a book used to teach my two teenage sons how to live in a world that challenges the heart, mind, and soul of young people. This series is based on a passage in John 13 where Jesus says: Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. It is rare to see young men who are servants. Their heart is chasing some apple of the eye that captures their fancy. Things like Porn being seen by most teenage boys by 16 years old. In the LA school district, when they handed out free IPads to students the first thing teachers found on them was pornography. Their young hearts were already being given over to lusts. Even Solomon with all his godly wisdom could not overcome giving his heart to his idol worshiping women. When I was a teenager I remember the conversations around the table with the other young bucks. 80% was about good looking women, 10% sports, and the rest about food, stupid stuff, and pranks. I had no interest in being a servant or making my heart safe. I could plead ignorance, but I also was not a Christian. I did receive Christ at 19 and right away Jesus wanted the apple of my eye to be one from a servant's view. It comes about first seeing Him as Teacher and Lord; then seeing Him serving. It is asked of every believer to sanctify Christ as Lord in your heart, nowhere is it asked to give your heart to Jesus in the Bible. It doesn't seem Christians learn this naturally. In college I shared a double apartment with 3 other guys, and every Friday we would clear out the living room of everything except the lights. That was because we would have 35 students come over and enjoy Bible study and fellowship. I would ask some of the guys this question. "How many servants do you see here?" And usually he would respond "everyone," then I would challenge him to see how many people would volunteer to help move all the furniture back in the room. After the people started leaving, I would look at him and he at me and eventually go and grab some furniture to help. It took training; every disciple I worked with took training.Christ gave us the clues we need on being servants. Seeing the "I am" statements in the Gospel of John; ones that most people miss - Teacher and Lord. Where in the Bible do you see Jesus as Teacher and Lord more than any other place? It turns out that the disciple "Luke" does an amazing job presenting Jesus Christ as both Teacher and Lord. He spends more words showing Jesus is a royal Lord than any other gospel and he shows Jesus as Teacher with all his parables and preaching. This sets up a foundation of what is going to be taught the disciples on servanthood, and when He isn't teaching, he is showing the example of a servant. 100% of the Gospel of Luke and some of Acts can be shown to be the "Handbook" of servanthood. The lessons repeat themselves in Hebrew fashion like a spiral giving us more insight with each lesson being repeated.See Luke in a new light and the exciting way to be a servant in humility and full blessings that come with it. Ask yourself when God looks at your heart what will he see? "Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." Every believer should have the heart of a servant. That will make the heart safe and the mind sounds also.
