The cancers originating in the ovaries, uterus, vagina, fallopian tubes, cervix and vulva are called gynecological cancers. Uterine cancer emerges in the uterine tissue. Its types include cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, gestational trophoblastic disease and uterine sarcoma. Vaginal cancer is malignant and forms in the tissue of the vagina. Squamous-cell carcinoma is the primary form of vaginal cancer. The other types of vaginal cancer are vaginal adenocarcinoma, vaginal germ cell tumor, clear cell adenocarcinoma, vaginal melanoma, etc. The diagnosis of such cancers is made on the basis of a pelvic exam, pap smear, physical exam and history, biopsy and colposcopy.
