His stories about them go all the way from Kinston to Wilmington through Thomasville, Morganton, Wake Forest, Wilson, Granite Falls, Snow Hill, Durham, Elizabeth City, and Hillsborough, all places where he has lived in his native state. Brightie White writes just like he is sitting down with you in your home and telling you something interesting that you will enjoy hearing about. He has a knack for taking his personal experiences and turning them into lessons for life. Often in his stories, he is like a bystander watching what is happening, because they're not so much about him as about other people and what we can learn from their behavior. The result is often humorous, frequently inspirational, regularly instructional, and sometimes controversial.
