Warum öffnen sich internationale Organisationen für Nicht-Staatliche Akteure? Warum werden sie transparenter? Diese Studie untersucht Transparenz und Partizipation in der Internationalen Atomenergieorganisation (IAEA) und in der Organisation für das Verbot chemischer Waffen (OPCW). Sie zeigt, dass beide Organisationen seit ihrer Entstehung transparenter und partizipativer geworden sind und dass organisationale Öffnung somit auch im Politikfeld Sicherheit von Relevanz ist. Ebenso zeigt die Studie, dass sich die beschriebene Öffnung sowohl auf Basis von Ressourcenerwägungen als aus aufgrund von normativen Begründungen erklären lässt. Normative Erklärungen sind dabei besonders geeignet zur Erklärung der Transparenzsteigerung in OPCW und IAEA. Ressourcenbasierte Erklärungen hingegen sind besonders für die Untersuchung von Partizipationsmustern in beiden Organisationen geeignet. Die Studie präsentiert eine umfangreiche Deskription von Öffnungstendenzen beider Organisationen sowie eine erklärende Analyse auf Basis einer Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA).
