On July 5th, my life changed forever. Both my nine year old daughter and my husband were killed in a car accident. I arrived at the police station with my mother. I passed by the glass window and saw in my eyes a reflection of fear so great, I did not recognize myself. An officer approached us. He said, "We are sorry to tell you there's been an accident. Your husband is dead and Life Flight has transorted your children. Their injuries are very serious." All I thought was, God won't take two from me. Those words kept repeating in my head over and over again. As if I could keep death at bay from my children. But death came anyways and took one more from my family. One death was unbearable, but two were incomprehensible. My true story is about surviving the unthinkable, celebrating a little girl's life, and learning how to live again.
