The current state of nutrition science is characterized by confusion, not only for the layperson, but also by the supposed experts. There are many diet and health books asserting different, and often contradictory, ideas and prescriptions concerning dietary and nutritional strategies. As will be clear for those wading through the field of nutrition science, this field is complex and often confusing. Many ideas conflict with each other while vested business and financial interests influence and bias the research literature. The result is that contradictory studies and research can often be cited to support opposing claims. This book undertakes a fresh review and analysis of the current literature and a synthesis of the best data into a coherent strategy for metabolic health and weight loss. The various research studies are objectively reviewed with an attempt to find commonalities among the different theories. The best strategies have been personally tested by the author. The book attempts to synthesize the results of a personal three year research, which allowed the author to lose 30 pounds and to keep it off for many years to this day. More importantly, there was great improvement in overall metabolic health. The key idea of this book is that long term weight loss and fitness can occur naturally, but only if and when the body becomes metabolically healthy. This book is not a fad diet book promising short term weight loss tricks. It lays out and explains the basic foundational principles as well as various dietary and lifestyle strategies which can be tailored and applied towards metabolic health and a healthy weight.
