After moving to Johannesburg to follow a career in TV, film, and music, Pat became a Christian and worked for a large church in the Johannesburg area. In 1994, she emigrated to the United States, becoming a US citizen in 2003. Her career veered off into the political arena, which included working for the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, followed by positions in various non-profit organizations.
