Through the Mail Order Bride service, she finds a young prospector named Gary Evans and is soon on her way to Cripple Creek to become his new bride. However, fate has other things in store for Lucy. Much to her chagrin, she is greeted by Ashkii, a handsome Navajo Indian cowboy sent to escort her across the plains and deserts of Colorado to Cripple Creek. This is not the start to the wonderful new life Lucy had planned! The journey is full of peril and is made worse by Ashkii's curt demeanour, Lucy is left angry and hurt. Cripple Creek has a surprising turn of events for Lucy which makes her challenge her own prejudices and character. The little town teaches her that life doesn't always have to be planned and that sometimes a person's destiny can lie far from the path that we had chosen.
