Maria Caraballo, is a sixty-something retired nurse living in New York City, which turns out to be a major character in the text, as well, since the story is told against the background of that fabled metropolis during the second decade of the twenty-first century. Ms Tejada tells the reader how the protagonist is caught in a whirlwind web of anguish and uncertainty, as she struggles to fight off her attraction for a married man twenty-seven year her junior. The man in question is 'The East Side Healer', one of her medical doctors; someone, who either fell hopelessly in love with Maria, or who is an aggressive, merciless, sexual predator. In this context, our heroine fell prey to an unethical physician, possibly making her one more woman who places herself as a victim of sexual harassment, alongside those in the same category in the "METOO' MOVEMENT, so relevant among women in this country and throughout the world in 2018. The author invites readers to decide on the doctor's motivations for his imprudent behavior, which created havoc on the heroine's psyche and soul. Come on in this journey with Maria Caraballo!
