After practicing law in a small town in Missouri for 11 years, he was appointed to the Missouri Public Service Commission where he was introduced to the necessity of management and leadership. Following a four-year stint on the commission, the last two of which he served as chairman, he and his family moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for 24 years for the Detroit Edison Company, the local electric utility. During his employment with Detroit Edison, mostly as an attorney, he also served five years as the company's Manager of Marketing and two years as a member of the company's strategic planning group. He and his wife, Sharon, reside in Auburn Hills, Michigan and enjoy visiting their three children and spouses and eight grandchildren.
