Jack BoWen Heiar is a husband, father, and former pet owner. The dynamics between his busy family and the family's pets gave him the inspiration to write The Long Ball. The story begins with a night-time meeting between two creatures of vastly different size and disposition. Somehow they have become friends reading each others minds as they communicate about the pack (it's travels, it's games, it's problems, and it's adventures). Arrow can't believe her ears when she hears the news about a murder. Someone has harmed another member of the pack! The gerbils are the culprits. Mum and Dad move their family across the country and take everyone on new adventures. Meanwhile, Big Red and Giant deal with school sports, bullies, and growing pains. Throughout every challenge, Arrow is there to guide and protect them in the only way she knows how. This story of one dog's incredible loyalty and love will make you look at your pets in a new light.
